Learn to Nurture and End Body Shame
Ever wondered why you eat when you’re not hungry? Do you continuously crave sweets or find yourself reaching for your favourite guilty pleasure because you deserve it after a long day…but then you realise you consider every day a long day and maybe you shouldn’t be eating your third family block of chocolate for the week? Do you find yourself overeating or halfway through a bag of chips before realising you don’t remember going to the pantry to get them?
I’ve been here too!
I know what it’s like to eat when I’m not hungry! I would eat when I was stressed, tired, bored, confused, thinking, procrastinating, sometimes I would eat something and wonder where it went, and then wonder why I have trouble managing my weight. For years I have been fighting with myself and trying to figure out why my will power disappears when someone brings out a birthday cake – just trying to control what’s going in my mouth.
I have spent the last 12 months coaching myself, studying and researching and really trying to understand why we do this. I now have an awareness of my hunger and fullness and what thoughts, feelings and emotions are controlling my actions, meaning I can now make mindful decisions on what is and isn’t going in my mouth and eat intuitive.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not just a switch you can flick on and off at will, it’s about practicing constant listening to your body being aware, mindful and reflecting on why I’m at the fridge, in the pantry or eating when I’m not hungry. Knowing why has now given me the power to take control and eat in a way that nurtures my body, mind and has certainly helped improve my health and wellness.
If you struggle with your eating habits too it’s time to take action, it’s time to stop the struggle, the self-shaming, the guilt, and the constant internal conflict! It’s time to make that change!
